ABOUT US

Our Story

I left school at 16 and went straight to the fishing boats in Kilkeel for 5 years.  I then opened my first chippy situated on Newry Street, Kilkeel.  I only stayed there for 1 year as I moved to Armagh after getting married.

I was destined to go back to chippy life, so after 2 years of trying other things, I acquired my first chippy on Barrack Street.  It was situated between Orr’s Corner and The Balladeer.  I spent 5 years there, learning the trade and mastering my art.

I then had the opportunity to move seven doors up to where the business is today.  February 2006, The Galley was opened.  We installed state of the art equipment and a sit in for 40 people.  We have never looked back.

Over the past 14 years, here at The Galley, we have been committed to providing high quality food.  We strive to better our service year on year – every single year.

Sustainable fish is key to us, along with using the finest ingredients for our food.  Our food is prepared fresh each morning and our potatoes chipped each day.

Our expertise is in producing top quality food – so that’s what we do.

Family is so important to us and so we aim to offer something for every member of your family.

Parties

We are able to cater for parties up to 15 people within our sit in, or if you prefer to have it at home, you can pre-order for collection or delivery.
